Summary
Save the Children maintains the largest humanitarian program in Sudan and its integrated approach to child rights and support to basic services encompasses the interventions under core thematic areas of Education, Child Protection, Health, Nutrition; Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), Child Rights Governance and Livelihoods. Save the Children operates in 7 states of Sudan including West Darfur, North Darfur, Central Darfur, South Kordofan, North Kordofan, Blue Nile and Khartoum state. In addition, Save the Children also works in the Abyei area. The main office is located in Khartoum.
The Specialist, Program Development and Reporting will assist the Sudan Team to ensure strong program design, proposal development, M&E and reporting as well as to build the staff capacity in the same areas. Responsibilities
The Specialist, Program Development and Reporting, under the supervision of the Sudan Programs Director, is responsible for assisting the program managers in planning and designing for current and anticipated programs as conditions change and evolve.
S/he will have to develop or maintain productive relationships with the UN, media, and donors as well as ensuring that projects reports are produced according to SC commitments and donors requirement; review and give quality input to all project proposals, reports and assessments; coordinate new proposals with Program Managers to ensure proper funding for programmatic needs. S/he will also train national staff in proposal writing and reporting. S/he will be based in Khartoum, with frequent travel to the project sites throughout the Sudan to have an overall picture of SC programs in Sudan.

Requirements
  • MS degree or equivalent in a development and/or humanitarian related field.
  • Excellent reporting skills and demonstrated program planning skills are essential.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience of working with INGOs.
  • Experience of developing proposals for the key donors including SIDA, USAID/OFDA, EC/ECHO, CIDA, and UN agencies.
  • Knowledge of basic grant compliance/management; understanding of the SPHERE manual, nutrition, health, water/sanitation, protection and food emergency programs.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel required.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and representational and communications skills are essential, and a team-oriented work style is a necessity.
  • Sensitivity of African cultures and ability to communicate cross-culturally.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, fluency in English is essential and knowledge of Arabic preferred.
  • Regular travel to project sites in the 7 states with average of 20% time in the field.
