Applications are now being accepted for 2015 degree training positions supported by the Dartmouth-Boston (DBU) University Fogarty program from the US National Institutes of Health.

The DBU degree positions in the US are specifically targeted for fellows who will return to MUHAS as staff members of the newly formed Tuberculosis Research Institute at MUHAS (TRIM-TB). Applicants should be current MUHAS faculty or have academic credentials that will qualify them for faculty positions at MUHAS after the degree program –an undergraduate GPA of ≥4.0 is usually required. Current MUHAS faculty members and current staff of the National Program on Tuberculosis and Leprosy are encouraged to apply.

One position each is available at BU and at Dartmouth beginning in 2015:

1.      Doctoral degree at Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH). Applications will be accepted for 3 possible degrees: Doctor of Public Health (DPH), PhD in Epidemiology, and PhD (or advanced training) in Biostatistics. Details of these programs are available on the BUSPH web site. A single candidate will be selected for one of the degree programs. After completion of the degree program the fellow will return to MUHAS as a member of TRIM-TB in the selected discipline.

2.      Masters in Public Health degree at Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. One candidate will be selected to enroll in the MPH program at The Dartmouth Institute of Health Policy and Clinical Practice (TDI). Details of this program are available on the TDI website. After completion of the degree program the fellow will return to MUHAS as a member of TRIM-TB in the operational or clinical research unit.

Application forms can be downloaded from the Dartmouth Fogarty Programs website (www.dmsfogarty.org) and should be submitted by January 16 along with a CV and transcripts to Richard.D.Waddell@dartmouth.edu. Candidates selected for further evaluation will be scheduled for personal interviews in Dar es Salaam during the week of January 27.  Candidates should also consider attending the all day TRIM-TB Research Conference on January 27 in Dar – details will be available on the Dartmouth Fogarty website.
