Kagera Program Manager and Mara Program manager – one position in each region JHPIEGO

By putting evidence-based health innovations into everyday practice, Jhpiego works to break down barriers to high-quality health care for the world’s most vulnerable populations. The USAID Mission in Tanzania is supporting the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MoHSW) Reproductive and Child Health Services (RCHS) to scale up interventions to reduce maternal mortality, neonatal mortality, and under five mortality rates. The Jhpiego-led Maternal and Child Survival Project (MCSP) will collaborate with MoHSW, PMORALG and other Government agencies to accomplish the following objectives at National and in the Lake Zone:
• Improve environment for RMNCH services through technical leadership and coordination
• Strengthen key health systems to deliver quality RMNCH services
• Strengthen involvement of civil society, supporting institutions and improve update of
innovation.The Regional Program Manager will be responsible for coordination and implementation oversight of the MCSP in the Mara/Kagera region. Under the leadership and supervision of the MCSP Program Manager , S/he will be responsible for the development, implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation of program activities in supported region. S/he will work closely with Regional and District authorities and health teams to improve Maternal, newborn and child health in line with the program goal and national MCSP strategies.In implementing this project, Jhpiego wishes to fill the following positions:

Job Overview:

The Regional Program Manager will be responsible for coordination and implementation
oversight of the MCSP in the Mara/Kagera region. Under the leadership and supervision of the
MCSP Program Manager, S/he will be responsible for the development, implementation,
management, monitoring and evaluation of program activities in supported region. S/he will
work closely with Regional and District authorities and health teams to improve Maternal,
newborn and child health in line with the program goal and national MCSP strategies.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Graduate degree in medicine, nursing or other relevant field. Public health degree or related
advanced degree also a plus.
• Five years’ experience in managing health programs including planning, designing, supervising, and
evaluating healthcare programs. 2
• Acknowledged skills in one of or more of the following areas: Maternal, newborn and Child health,
HIV related health services and Malaria.
• Extensive knowledge of the local health systems from the national to the local levels.
• Previous experience and understanding of policies of international and US donor agencies and
private sector foundations preferred.
• Demonstrated ability in managing teams to achieve health results
• Ability to develop productive working relationships with counterparts in the Government and other
agencies/organizations worldwide.
• Aware of and sensitive to working in multiple socio-economic settings and with multi-cultural groups
• Proven leadership skills, as well as skills in facilitation, team building and coordination
• Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills in English and Kiswahili
• Availability and willingness to travel up to 40% time
Tanzanian nationals who have previous experience working with an international organization are
preferred.
