Call for applicants: Lancet Youth Commission on Essential Medicines, Deadline Feb. 15th

From e-drug forum

INVITATION TO JOIN A LANCET YOUTH COMMISSION ON ESSENTIAL MEDICINES

In November 2014, the Lancet launched a Commission on Essential Medicines
Policies <http://www.bu.edu/lancet-commission-essential-medicines-policies/>.
Composed of 19 leading experts
<http://www.bu.edu/lancet-commission-essential-medicines-policies/meet-the-commission/>
in the area, it will reconfirm the crucial role of essential medicines
policies in achieving universal health coverage, and formulate
recommendations for the evolution of these policies over the next two
decades.

Following the establishment of the Commission on Essential Medicines
Policies, a group of young people from different student organisations have
proposed to establish a Youth Commission on Essential Medicines Policies
(YCEM) to the primary Commission.

The Commission and the Lancet supports the creation of a Youth Commission,
which will provide input to the primary Commission on issues that these
future leaders hold as important, as well as supplementing the
primary Commission's evidence gathering, and creating a parallel
independent report.

We are now inviting applications to join the Youth Commission from young
people with an interest in health. The primary Commission has already begun
work, and so the Youth Commission must convene soon.

The deadline for applications is the 15th of February 23:59 (GMT).

We particularly encourage applications from Low- and Middle-Income
countries. Please do not consider travel costs an obstacle to application
or participation in the Youth Commission- we are seeking funding for any
travel necessary for the function of the Youth Commission, and in any case,
we will try to find solutions that work for all members of
the Youth Commission.

Applications will be evaluated based on previous experience, motivation,
proposed role in the Youth Commission, and vision for the work of
the Youth Commission. Students from all academic backgrounds are encouraged
to apply. Organizational experience is not a prerequisite, but can be an
advantage. All applicants must be over 18 and below the age of 30 at the
time of application. We expect applicants to be able to join weekly online
meetings and devote 5-10 hours weekly, depending on the workload.

To apply to participate in the Youth Commission, please
fill in the application at this link

Applications will be evaluated in collaboration with the
primary Commission, and notification of the outcome will be given within a
few weeks after submission.

We look forward to your applications, and to a strong and
diverse Youth Commission on Essential Medicines Policies. If you have any
questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at
