Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Research, identify, and respond to funding opportunities that support strategic vision of the University.
* Responsible for proposal writing for global and international focused applications. Write or edit proposals, renewal and re-compete submissions, and acknowledgements and reports to foundations, corporations, and government agencies and entities.
* Identify opportunities for collaborative projects that maximize the impact of a potential grant or contract in collaboration with the administrators and/or principal investigators.
* Research guidelines and deadlines, and pro-actively inform the appropriate staff of funding opportunities utilizing calendars of activities to ensure grant compliance in pre- and post-award activities.
* Ensure compliance of submissions by completing grant application and supporting documents in response to applications (technical, budget alignment, monitoring and evaluation plan, or close-out plan) upon receipt of technical/budget components.
* Monitors pre-award requests from funding sources, coordinates prompt and well-written responses.
* Coordinate efforts of faculty in all schools, responds to multidisciplinary global grant opportunities.
* Assure grant applications comply with all sponsor, federal and state requirements.
* Assist in the continued development of the University’s Global Strategic Plan in accordance with University’s priorities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Health, Public Policy, or related field.
* Five (5) years of experience in international or global grant writing with proven track record in successfully securing funding in the areas of health and social sciences
* Financial disclosure may be required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
* Ability to develop full grant applications (technical, budget, monitoring and evaluation plans, close-out, pre and post award compliance activity calendars).
* Able to work under pressure to produce high quality work products under tight time frames, function independently and have exceptional interpersonal skills.
* Knowledge of NIH, CDC, USAID, and other global funders and opportunities and identify new funding sources for special programs.
* Able to coordinate and organize efforts across multiple disciplines.
* Ability to analyze trends and recommend and/or institute “best practices” to improve on-going activities and priorities.
* Proficient grant writing and computer skills (Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.; Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, IM, etc.).
