Background
UNICEF
Tanzania is recruiting a HIV/AIDS Specialist who under the supervision of the
Chief, Field Office, Zanzibar, and with technical support of the Chief of HIV
and AIDS, UNICEF Dar Es Salaam, will contributes to the planning,
implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the UNICEF contribution to the
UNDAP for HIV/AIDS in Zanzibar, with focus on prevention among adolescents and
young key populations, eMTCT and HIV Care and Treatment for children.
Major Accountabilities
·
Provide technical assistance to Zanzibar Aids Commission (ZAC), MoHSW
and MoEVT to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate evidence-based strategic
plans, operational plans, guidelines and training tools that are relevant to
the HIV response.
·
Deliver timely inputs to the UNDAP HIV/AIDS workplan, reviews and
reports, based on agreed division of labour among participating UN Agencies, in
close consultation with UNICEF Dar Es Salaam Office, to ensure a harmonized
strategic approach between Zanzibar and Mainland.
·
Oversee program implementation to NGO implementing partners, through
regular review of program/financial reports and supportive supervision.
·
Provide technical assistance to the relevant national structures to
improve the quality of eMTCT services for children, mothers and their partners
in Zanzibar, ensuring linkages of key populations and their families into these
services, working in close collaboration with H&N Specialist based in
Zanzibar.

Provide technical assistance for communication for development (C4D)
activities for HIV/AIDS and child related issues, as child health and
nutrition, protection, education.
Expected Qualification and Experience
·
Advanced
University degree in social sciences or studies related to HIV/AIDS and sexual
reproductive health. Experience with social and behaviour change communication
(SBCC) and gender would be an advantage.
·
3-5 years of work experience in HIV/AIDS
programme planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation; managing
relationships with different partners; experience in working at a grassroots
level, with key populations and in SBCC.
·
Fluency in Swahili
and English, spoken and written.
